Life is a set of Booleans; our choices and decisions being the 0s and 1s that determine the output of our lives. We all come with our own set of strengths and weaknesses. We all add to one another’s string of life like a 0 adds value to any number it is written after, helping each other collectively get closer to our best state – our 1. And that is the power of being a part of a community.
Communities have existed ever since mankind understood the dynamics of survival and growth. Similarly, they have been an integral feature of the global tech ecosystem for the past 30 years. World renowned tech giants such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon and Facebook are home to some of the world’s largest communities. Google Developers Group, Microsoft Tech Community, AWS Community, Facebook Developer Circles, and forloop Africa are playing their part in keeping the global tech community intact and growing.
As someone who has the experience of bringing and establishing international communities for developers in Pakistan; be it Facebook Developers Circle back in 2016 that has now grown to over 10,000 developers, Stacks Pakistan in 2021 where 100+ blockchain developers were trained, or most recently DirAction community through which 10,000+ individuals have been trained on web and digital skills, one thing is for sure – building communities is a self-driven way to mobilise and multiply talent, ideas & skills.
Nonetheless, a large gap is still prevalent within the IT sector of Pakistan, across the spectrum, that needs to be addressed by nurturing, empowering and growing our tech human resource.
The solution to this lies in creating and feeding a community for programmers that fuels the moving parts of the IT sector. But why is a programmers’ community a necessity for Pakistan’s tech landscape and more so, the youth?
Simply put, a community is a hub for tech professionals to:
- Share knowledge,
- Expand their skillset,
- Bring income opportunities for themselves and Pakistan at large,
- Catalyse their career growth,
- Enhance professional development,
- Open gateway for business opportunities,
- Upscale themselves into high-quality programmers/engineers & help others raise the bar,
- Build breakthrough tech products,
- Create high-value tech startups,
- Get access to international network and gain foreign exposure,
- Stay informed about the latest trends,
- Connect with like-minded individuals, and
- Share resources, collaborate, & learn.
Pakistan needs problem solvers and a thriving, self-driven programmers’ community fueled by high brain value is the answer to transforming our country’s economic terrain. The caravan of enabling Pakistani tech talent that started in 2012 has now turned into a wave ready to bring about a change.
It’s time for us as a nation to embrace it.
I’m excited to announce the launch of 01Pakistan – A Premier Programmers’ Community.
I invite you to join the 01 Pakistan community today so together, we can shape the future of programming not just in Pakistan but around the world.
